Google Tag Manager + TrackPlay

If your tags live in GTM, your video events should reach GTM.

How it works

Copy
dataLayer.push({event: 'trackplay_progress_75'})

Events pushed to the data layer

trackplay_play, trackplay_pause, progress at 25, 50, and 75 percent, trackplay_complete, and trackplay_cta_click. Each push carries the video code, so one container serves every video.

Fire anything you already have

Create a Custom Event trigger named trackplay_progress_75 and attach any tag you already run. Your pixel now fires on attention, not on page load.

Where conversions travel

Not through the dataLayer, on purpose. Your buyer completes the order on your cart's domain, after this page is gone, so a browser event would miss most sales. TrackPlay sends conversions server-side instead, through Meta Conversions API, Google Analytics 4, and TikTok Events API.

Google Tag Manager questions

Yes. Add your container ID and the player pushes trackplay_play, trackplay_pause, progress events at 25, 50, and 75 percent, trackplay_complete, and trackplay_cta_click to window.dataLayer.
Seven events, with fixed names, so your triggers never break: trackplay_play, trackplay_pause, trackplay_progress_25, trackplay_progress_50, trackplay_progress_75, trackplay_complete, and trackplay_cta_click. Each carries a trackplay object with the video code.
No, by design. The sale completes on your cart's domain after the video page is gone. Conversions go server-side through Meta CAPI, GA4, and TikTok Events API, where they cannot be lost.
Yes. Any tag in your container can use a TrackPlay event as its trigger, including Meta, Google Ads, and custom HTML tags.
No. It is one field: paste your GTM container ID in the Integrations tab and save. TrackPlay injects GTM on every page your videos are embedded on and starts pushing events.
