We host video at our customers' direction and we do not watch it. That means we rely on you to tell us when something is wrong. When you do, we act.

Before you send a notice

Send this only if you own the rights, or you are authorised to act for the owner. Submitting a notice in bad faith is not free: under 17 U.S.C. 512(f) you can be liable for the other side's damages and legal costs. You are also expected to consider whether the use is fair use before you send.

What your notice must contain

US copyright law sets out what a valid notice looks like. A notice missing any of these is not a conforming notice, and we cannot act on it as one:

• Identification of the work you say has been infringed.
• Identification of the material you say infringes it, with enough detail for us to find it. A direct URL is best.
• Your name, address, phone number, and email.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
• Your signature, electronic or physical.

What happens next

You get a reference number as soon as we record the notice. We review it, and where it is valid we take the material down and tell the customer what we removed and why.

If your content was removed and you think that was wrong

You can file a counter-notice. It needs your signature, identification of what was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address and phone, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the US, any district where we may be found).

If we receive a valid counter-notice we pass it to the person who complained. Unless they tell us they have gone to court, we restore the material between 10 and 14 business days later. Send counter-notices to [email protected].
